Two passages of Scripture, [with support elsewhere], provide strong indications of developments in the near future. Based on Isaiah 63, where the spirit remarks, “I looked and there was no one to help [Israel]”, it has been our contention that US support for Israel will fade away. Revelation 17 and 18 gives us cause to think that, more or less in parallel with that movement, the European Union will grow in financial power and trade, over a long period of time, and that its position of strength will entice the EU to challenge Jesus Christ’s rule when he establishes his Kingdom in Jerusalem. There are further indications, lately, that these movements are slowly proceeding in the directions we anticipate. On the one hand, the US financial system is in deep, long term trouble, the $US is losing value and the gold price is soaring. The US Middle East policy is not working. Two signs that are not beneficial for US influence. In Europe, the long awaited approval of the last of 27 nations [the Czechs] has been obtained for a new and advanced administrative structure for the European Union. This gives the EU administration enhanced collective authority over the individual nations that make up the EU. The compulsory laws and restrictions imposed on trade with nations outside the EU are a major concern. The balance between the EU and the USA has, ever so slightly, moved in the EU’s favour. This is a slow process, taking many years, but the trend is in the direction that Bible prophecy leads us to expect.
